Alvis Brāzma's indexed work centers on standards and infrastructure for sharing gene expression data, most visibly through the MIAME minimum-information framework for microarray experiments, a first-author contribution whose 4,104 citations reflect its foundational role in the field. This line extends into the ArrayExpress public repository for microarray and, later, single-cell expression data, which he led as first author in 2003 and as senior author across subsequent updates, and into the Expression Atlas, an integrated database of gene and protein expression across humans, animals and plants. Earlier first-author work on gene expression data analysis rounds out this methodological focus. Beyond these, his middle-author contributions include the integrated ENCyclopedia Of DNA Elements (ENCODE) human genome annotation effort and the PRIDE proteomics data resources, alongside participation in pan-cancer whole-genome analysis and the International Cancer Genome Consortium's network of cancer genome projects. No software tools, datasets, patents or grants are separately indexed beyond these publications. Across the named works, the throughline is a sustained commitment to making large-scale expression and genomics data findable, comparable and reusable, spanning microarray standards through single-cell and proteomics resources.
