Ana Carrizosa Anderson's indexed work centers on checkpoint receptor biology in T-cell exhaustion and autoimmunity, particularly the TIM-3 and PD-1 pathways. Her early first-author study on Tim-3 expressed on innate immune cells as a promoter of tissue inflammation (703 citations) helped establish the receptor beyond its T-cell role, while later senior-author work mapped dynamic PD-1−CD8+ tumor-infiltrating T cell changes under checkpoint blockade (631 citations). Related senior-author papers examine Th1 and Th17 contributions to organ-specific autoimmunity and TIGIT and CD96 as checkpoint targets, alongside studies of TIM3+FOXP3+ regulatory T cells as tissue-specific promoters of T-cell dysfunction. Broader contributions include middle-author work describing galectin-9 as a Tim-3 ligand that negatively regulates Th1 immunity and cooperation of Tim-3 and PD-1 in CD8 T-cell exhaustion during chronic viral infection, as well as participation in spatially organized multicellular immune hubs in human colorectal cancer. Collaborations with Arlene H. Sharpe appear within this checkpoint-focused body of work. No software, datasets, patents, or funded grants are indexed beyond these publications. Across these studies, the through-line is a sustained effort to define how inhibitory receptors shape T-cell dysfunction and to translate that biology toward cancer immunotherapy.
