Andrés Rodríguez-Pose's indexed work centers on why economic growth clusters unevenly across regions and what policy can do about it. His most-cited first-author contribution, the "revenge of the places that don't matter" thesis, argues that territorial inequality and persistent lagging regions fuel political discontent, a theme extended in his senior-author study of the geography of EU discontent. A parallel strand examines institutional conditions for regional performance, including whether institutions and government quality shape regional development and innovation, and his senior-author case for place-based versus place-neutral development intervention, which remains a touchstone in regional policy debates. Beyond these, his co-authored analysis of regional inequality in Europe links evidence, theory and policy implications, while the earlier Local and Regional Development volume helped codify the field's core concepts. No software, datasets, patents or grants are indexed beyond his publications. Across these works, the through-line is a sustained effort to connect territorial inequality, institutional quality and place-sensitive policy into a coherent account of regional economic divergence.
