Andrew Strominger's research centers on the quantum structure of black holes and the string-theoretic frameworks that describe them. His highly cited work on charged black hole solutions in string theory and on black strings and p-branes helped establish how extended objects arise in supergravity and string theory. He later reframed black hole thermodynamics through near-horizon microstates, deriving black hole entropy from stringy degrees of freedom, and extended holographic ideas to cosmology via the dS/CFT correspondence. Related studies of evanescent black holes and N=2 extremal black holes trace how horizon physics and supersymmetry connect across these settings. Strominger's earlier contributions include vacuum configurations for superstrings, a foundational exploration of compactification. His later work on soft hair on black holes, with collaborators including Sabrina Pasterski, argued that horizon degrees of freedom may encode information through soft graviton and photon modes, sharpening the black hole information debate. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond these publications. Taken together, the listed works trace a sustained inquiry into how quantum mechanics, gravity, and string theory constrain black hole entropy, horizons, and holography.
