Atul Janardhan Butte's indexed work centers on computational methods for interpreting tissue and pathway-level biology. His senior-authored xCell, a method for digitally portraying tissue cellular heterogeneity, is his most-cited indexed output, while ten years of pathway analysis surveys approaches and outstanding challenges in functional genomic interpretation. Related senior-author work includes systematic pan-cancer analysis of tumour purity and, from his first-author work, mutual-information relevance networks for functional genomic clustering. Beyond these, Butte contributed as a middle author to reference-based analysis of lung single-cell sequencing and to scalable and accurate deep learning with electronic health records, alongside Bali Pulendran and Eric E. Schadt respectively. His senior-authored ImmPort resources disseminate open immunological assay data, and MI-CLAIM offers a checklist for clinical AI modeling. No software, datasets, grants, or patents beyond publications are indexed. Together these works trace a line from early entropy-based network methods to reusable data resources and reporting standards for translational computation.
