Capucine Pïcard's research centers on inborn errors of immunity that reveal how single genes govern host defense. Her most-cited first-author work, on pyogenic bacterial infections in humans with IRAK-4 deficiency, established a key role for this kinase in protective immunity, while her classification updates for the International Union of Immunological Societies helped standardize how these disorders are catalogued. She has also described immunodeficiency and autoimmunity caused by STIM1 mutation and, as senior author, immunodeficiency, autoinflammation and amylopectinosis from inherited HOIL-1 and LUBAC deficiency. Beyond these, she contributed to MyD88 deficiency and pyogenic bacterial infections, and to TLR3 deficiency in patients with herpes simplex encephalitis, both linking specific innate-immune defects to infection susceptibility. Her work with Aziz A. Bousfiha on IUIS classification reports reflects a sustained effort to organize the growing field of inborn errors of immunity. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond her publications. Across these studies, the through-line is a gene-to-phenotype approach that connects molecular lesions in innate and adaptive immunity to human infectious and inflammatory disease.
