Cara C. Lewis's indexed work centers on implementation science as a mechanistic and measurement discipline, asking how and why evidence-based practices take hold in behavioral health settings. Her most-cited first-author paper, on implementing measurement-based care in behavioral health (604 citations), pairs with a 2018 argument for moving from classification to causality in understanding mechanisms of change, and with a systematic review of empirical studies of implementation mechanisms (362 citations). Earlier, as senior author, she made the case for using measurement-based care to enhance any treatment (461 citations), a thread that runs through much of her later instrumentation work. Representative contributions extend to methods for selecting and tailoring implementation strategies (965 citations), a middle-author paper that has become a reference point for strategy design, and to a guideline for reporting mediation analyses of randomized trials and observational studies published in JAMA. Her measurement agenda is visible in stakeholder-driven work on criteria for pragmatic measurement and in the Society for Implementation Research Collaboration's instrument review methodology, a line pursued with collaborators including Byron J. Powell. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond these publications. Taken together, the named works trace a consistent arc: from clinical trials in adolescent depression to the instruments, mechanisms, and reporting standards that make implementation research rigorous.
