Chao Wang's indexed work centers on engineering nanomaterials that combine light-triggered therapy with immune activation. Early first-author studies established near-infrared upconversion nanoparticles for in vivo photodynamic therapy, a line extended through charge-reversible upconversion nanoparticles for imaging-guided pH-sensitive photodynamic therapy. His research subsequently moved toward immunotherapy, including a microneedle patch for anti-PD1 antibody delivery and an in situ reactive oxygen species–responsive scaffold combining gemcitabine with checkpoint blockade. Beyond the focus list, he contributed to broadly cited reviews and consortium studies, including functional nanomaterials for cancer phototherapies and photothermal therapy with immune-adjuvant nanoparticles plus checkpoint blockade. He also helped develop a bioresponsive immunotherapeutic gel for post-surgical cancer treatment and an ROS-scavenging hydrogel for healing bacteria-infected diabetic wounds. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed in the available record. Taken together, the works trace a consistent arc from nanoparticle-enabled phototherapy toward clinically oriented, immunity-focused biomaterial design.
