Charles M. Rudin's indexed work centers on thoracic oncology, with a particular emphasis on small-cell lung cancer and immunotherapy. His most-cited contributions include nivolumab versus docetaxel in advanced nonsquamous non-small-cell lung cancer, a practice-shaping comparison in second-line treatment, and tumor mutational load as a predictor of survival after immunotherapy across multiple cancer types. A further strand of this work concerns molecular subtyping of small-cell lung cancer through synthesis of human and mouse model data, alongside comprehensive genomic analysis identifying SOX2 amplification in the same disease. Beyond these, Rudin contributed to multiplexed assays of oncogenic drivers to guide targeted drug selection in lung cancers, and to studies of hedgehog pathway inhibition in advanced basal-cell carcinoma, including vismodegib. His co-authored work also addresses pneumonitis in patients receiving anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy, and earlier research on Akt-driven aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells. No software, datasets, grants, or patents are indexed beyond these publications. Taken together, the record traces a consistent line from molecular characterization of lung and skin cancers toward the immunotherapy and targeted-therapy questions that now define the field.
