Chris Huntingford's indexed work centres on the terrestrial carbon cycle and its coupling to climate, with a recurring emphasis on how land ecosystems amplify or damp warming. His most-cited lead-author contributions include simulated resilience of tropical rainforests to CO2-induced climate change, which probed Amazon dieback risk, and machine learning and artificial intelligence to aid climate change research and preparedness, a widely cited (468 citations) review of data-driven methods. As senior author he also examined indirect radiative forcing through ozone effects on the land-carbon sink (1018 citations) and overshooting tipping point thresholds in a changing climate, alongside work on climate feedback from wetland methane emissions. Beyond these, he contributed as a middle author to consortium-scale assessments, including trends in the sources and sinks of carbon dioxide and warming caused by cumulative carbon emissions towards the trillionth tonne, and to the JULES land-surface model description, co-developed with collaborators such as Belinda E. Medlyn and Benjamin Poulter. No software, datasets, patents or grants are indexed beyond his publications. Taken together, the named works trace a consistent line: quantifying carbon-cycle uncertainty, vegetation feedbacks and climate tipping behaviour across models and observations.
