Clare P. Grey's indexed work centers on understanding how ions and electrons move through battery and energy-storage materials, often by pairing electrochemical measurement with solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance. Her most-cited lead-author contributions include sustainability and in-situ monitoring strategies for battery development and a 2030 vision for lithium-ion batteries and beyond, while her senior-author output spans niobium tungsten oxides for high-rate lithium storage, metallic lithium microstructure formation observed in situ by NMR, and real-time NMR tracking of structural changes in silicon electrodes. Related studies probe additional capacities in metal-oxide electrodes and bulk fatigue from surface reconstruction in Ni-rich layered cathodes. Beyond the focus list, she contributed to efficient storage mechanisms for building better supercapacitors, a widely cited synthesis of charge-storage design principles. Her senior-author work also includes Mg/Al ordering in layered double hydroxides resolved by multinuclear NMR and surface functionalisation of Ti₃C₂ MXene revealed by NMR, both extending her spectroscopic methods to non-battery materials. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond these publications. Across these outputs, the through-line is methodological: applying and refining magnetic-resonance and diffraction techniques to explain, and ultimately improve, how energy-storage materials function.
