Dapeng Cao's indexed work centers on porous carbon electrocatalysts derived from metal-organic frameworks, particularly for the oxygen reduction reaction. A 2013 study on ZIF-derived nitrogen-doped porous carbons as metal-free electrocatalysts (783 citations) anchors this line, extended by a 2017 review of MOF-derived, heteroatom-doped carbons for fuel-cell oxygen reduction (775 citations). A 2018 study on the high-activity origin of single-atom iron catalysts for oxygen reduction (632 citations) shows the same inquiry moving toward atomistic mechanism, while related work addresses single-atom cobalt electrocatalysts for foldable solid-state Zn-air batteries. Earlier first-principles work on nitrogen-doped graphene anodes for lithium-ion batteries and later reviews of vanadium-based cathodes for aqueous zinc-ion batteries and porous organic polymers for sensing suggest a broader porous-materials portfolio. Beyond these, Cao contributed to a porous aromatic framework with exceptionally high surface area and to 2D covalent organic polymers complexed with non-precious metals for oxygen reduction. His involvement in a universal principle for rational design of single-atom electrocatalysts was later retracted, so that strand should be read cautiously. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond publications. Taken together, the named works trace a consistent arc: designing porous, heteroatom-doped architectures and clarifying their catalytic mechanisms across energy-conversion and storage applications.
