Daniel W. Belsky's research centers on measuring the pace and state of biological aging and testing whether those measures predict health, using cohort data. His most-cited lead-author work introduces DunedinPACE, a DNA methylation biomarker of the pace of aging (over 1,100 citations), complementing earlier efforts to quantify biological aging in young adults and the DunedinPoAm blood-test algorithm for aging pace. Related work asks whether telomere, epigenetic-clock, and biomarker-composite measures of aging capture the same underlying process, and, with Avshalom Caspi, extends this into longitudinal cohort science. Beyond biomarkers, Belsky contributed to a gradient of childhood self-control predicting health, wealth, and public safety and to the p Factor model of general psychopathology, both middle-author consortium papers. His senior-authored BioAge toolkit quantifies biological age from blood chemistry and organ-function data, while the CALERIE analyses examine caloric restriction's effect on DNA methylation measures of aging. No software, datasets, patents, or grants beyond these publications are indexed. The throughline is methodological: building and stress-testing tools that translate aging biology into measurable, population-relevant outcomes.
