Bo Zheng's indexed work centers on quantifying China's anthropogenic emissions and the air-quality consequences of clean air actions, work that has become a reference point for the field. His first-author study tracking emission trends since 2010 (nearly 3,000 citations) established how policy-driven controls reshaped China's pollution trajectory, while his senior-authored MIX mosaic Asian anthropogenic emission inventory provided the gridded inventory underpinning MICS-Asia and HTAP modeling. Related work on heterogeneous chemistry as a missing mechanism in secondary inorganic aerosol formation during the January 2013 North China haze episode helped explain sulfate formation that current models underpredicted. Beyond these, he contributed to the Global Methane Budget 2000–2017 and to analyses of the drivers of improved PM2.5 air quality in China from 2013 to 2017, both large collaborative efforts. His later first-author work extends to record-high CO2 emissions from boreal fires in 2021 and satellite-based estimates of China's COVID-19 emission decline and rebound. Collaborations with David G. Streets and Corinne Le Quéré connect this emissions work to global carbon accounting. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond his publications, so the through-line is a sustained effort to measure, attribute, and model how human activity and policy shape atmospheric composition.
