Claudia D. van Borkulo's indexed work centers on network psychometrics—methods for estimating and comparing symptom networks in mental-health data. Her most-cited first-author contributions include a permutation test for comparing network structures on three aspects, which has drawn roughly 1,488 citations, and a method for constructing networks from binary data (763 citations), which underpins later applied analyses. She also linked symptom network structure to the course of depression in a 2015 JAMA Psychiatry study (849 citations), and later, as senior author, addressed network stability, comparison, and replicability. Beyond these, she contributed as a middle author to a network analysis primer for multivariate psychological data and to a review framing mental disorders as networks of problems, both widely cited. Her applied and methodological output also includes the NetworkComparisonTest R package, released to operationalize statistical comparison of two networks via invariance measures. Across these works, the throughline is a sustained effort to make network models of psychopathology statistically rigorous and clinically usable, moving from binary-data estimation through comparison and replication toward application.
