Antonio Abate's indexed work centers on halide perovskite photovoltaics, spanning device physics, stability, and toxicity. Early first-author contributions include supramolecular halogen-bond passivation of perovskite solar cells and lithium salts as redox-active p-type dopants for solid-state dye-sensitized cells, the latter a widely cited 2012 study. As senior author, his portfolio extends to reversible performance losses driven by cation migration over day/night cycling and to the biological impact of lead from halide perovskites, a 2020 Nature Communications study questioning safe exposure thresholds. Beyond these, Abate contributed as a middle author to cesium-containing triple-cation perovskites and to rubidium incorporation for improved photovoltaic performance, both highly cited consortium efforts. His later senior-author work includes p-i-n perovskite solar cells that endure temperature variations and a practical guide to achieving over 20% efficiency in regular and inverted architectures. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond publications. Across these works, the throughline is a sustained effort to understand and engineer perovskite composition, stability, and safety, from passivation chemistry to cation engineering and lead-free alternatives.
