Amy Y. Chow's indexed work centers on how immune cells traffic and signal, beginning with retrograde MHC class II transport from lysosomes to the plasma membrane during dendritic cell maturation, a first-author study that remains her most-cited at over 440 citations. She later extended this immunomodulatory thread to cancer, showing that breast cancer-derived exosomes activate NF-κB through Toll-like receptor 2 to reprogram macrophages, and examined how TGFβ signaling intersects with HER2-driven mammary tumorigenesis. Together these suggest a sustained interest in the molecular crosstalk between immune recognition and tumor biology. Beyond these lead-author contributions, Chow appears as a middle author on several high-impact studies, including work on m6A RNA methylation promoting XIST-mediated transcriptional repression and on cancer-secreted miR-105 destroying vascular endothelial barriers to promote metastasis, alongside Howard Y. Chang on the former. Her broader output spans RNA-driven spatial compartmentalization in the nucleus and the Xist lncRNA recruiting SHARP to silence transcription via HDAC3. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond these publications. The throughline is a career moving from immune cell biology toward RNA and nuclear organization.
