Daniel Wrapp's research centers on the structural biology of viral surface proteins, particularly coronavirus spike glycoproteins. His most-cited work, the cryo-EM structure of the 2019-nCoV spike in its prefusion conformation, provided an early structural blueprint of the SARS-CoV-2 spike and has accumulated roughly 8,900 citations. Related first-author studies include single-domain camelid antibody neutralization of betacoronaviruses and the prefusion structure of the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus spike, alongside later work on HCMV pentamer recognition by neuropilin 2 and neutralizing antibodies and structure-based stabilization of HIV Env SOSIP trimers. Beyond these lead-author efforts, Wrapp contributed as a middle author to structure-based design of prefusion-stabilized SARS-CoV-2 spikes and to site-specific glycan analysis of the SARS-CoV-2 spike, both of which informed vaccine and antibody development. These sit within a broader collaborative context that includes Barney S. Graham and Andrew B. Ward. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond his publications. Taken together, the listed outputs trace a consistent line of inquiry: applying cryo-EM and protein engineering to reveal how viral fusion proteins are recognized and neutralized, with a recurring emphasis on coronaviruses.
