Atul A. Deodhar's indexed work centers on the treatment of spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis, with lead-author trials of ustekinumab in axial spondyloarthritis and guselkumab in biologic-naive and TNF-inhibitor-experienced psoriatic arthritis (DISCOVER-1) among his most cited. A parallel thread concerns long-term safety, notably pooled secukinumab safety across psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, alongside diagnostic and classification questions such as the criteria for ankylosing spondylitis and the evolving concept of spondyloarthritis. Earlier work addressed bone health, including osteoporosis and vertebral fractures in ankylosing spondylitis and denosumab-related gains in hand bone mineral density with reduced erosion in rheumatoid arthritis. Beyond these, Deodhar contributed as a middle author to the secukinumab trial in ankylosing spondylitis and to successive ACR/SAA/SPARTAN recommendations for treating ankylosing spondylitis and nonradiographic axial spondyloarthritis. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond publications. The arc runs from bone-metabolism questions in rheumatoid arthritis toward large randomized trials and consensus guidance defining how spondyloarthritis is classified and treated, work often conducted with collaborators such as Vibeke Strand.
