Park Williams studies how anthropogenic warming reshapes drought, fire weather, and forest health across western North America. His most-cited work links human-caused climate change to increased wildfire area across western US forests (over 3,000 citations), while related analyses attribute a substantial share of California's 2012–2014 drought and the emerging southwestern North American megadrought to anthropogenic warming. A parallel thread examines temperature as a potent driver of regional forest drought stress and tree mortality, connecting hotter droughts to die-off and carbon-cycle consequences. Beyond these lead-author studies, Williams contributed as a middle author to pervasive drought legacies in forest ecosystems and their implications for carbon-cycle models, and to work on land–atmosphere feedbacks that exacerbate concurrent soil drought and atmospheric aridity, both involving Benjamin I. Cook. No software, datasets, patents, or grants appear in the indexed record beyond publications. Taken together, the arc runs from diagnosing forest responses to increasing aridity and warmth toward quantifying how warming intensifies compound drought, heatwave, and fire risk.
